History

In 1970, the Couch family located Mr. Couch’s private train car which he used while president of the Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad Co. It is named “Magnolia” after the town of the same name. The private train car of Mr. Couch has two bedrooms, each with a private bath. It has a front parlor overlooking the lake and stained glass and mahogany-lined rear parlor. It was purchased for scrap in Louisiana and brought to Couchwood and restored in 1971. Today it sits on Couchwood’s property for use with family and guests.
